When I first heard the project ideas for our individual 3D Print project, I knew I had to do the coin organizer because of my mess of coins in my car. I then started brainstorming ideas and came across one that would work. I rectangular prism with holes on the edges for easy access and 2 small stands for the coins to stay in the organizer. I started by drawing the general shape and then adding the holes which I decided to enlarge by one tenth of an inch for the extra room. I set them in order from largest value to smallest value. I then extruded these big enough for all requirements of coin capacity. After the coin holes, I added the stands. .85 in x .5 in and extruded .5 in. I then saved it as an stl file and put it into Makerbot. I placed it face down with supports so that there would be no printing errors. I saved it onto a flash drive and printed. The print took about 6 hours. I took the supports out and sanded and had a coin organizer for my car!

This Inventor 3D Project was very exciting. This was something that I saw and knew that I had to do because I could actually use it. I learned many things while doing this project but here are a few. One thing I learned was how to make holes with the edges out of the image so that I could grab my coins from the holder. Another thing I learned was how to use the fillet tool. I actually was kind of impressed by it and it made my project better by smoothing the inside edges of the coin holes for easy insertion. All in all I had a great time making my coin holder and learned a lot while doing it.
